Child Support Services is the place to go to for child support resources for both custodial and non-custodial parents, including guidance on calculating child support.

For assistance in locating ex-spouses out-of-state for the purpose of establishing paternity and support obligations or enforcing court orders and collecting child support, try the Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement or the Federal Parent Locator Service.

The Illinois State Bar Association provides numerous informative and useful consumer legal guides, including Getting a Divorce, Adoption, and Advice to Newly Marrieds.

Information on Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs) can be found at this site maintained by the Employee Benefits Security Administration through the United States Department of Labor, or at the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, which is a U.S. government agency that oversees private-sector defined benefit pension plans. A QDRO or QILDRO may be required to distribute retirement benefits as part of the property division, as discussed in our Family Law Areas Overview.

The Illinois Uniform Premarital Agreement Act sets out the standards for valid premarital (prenuptial) agreements in Illinois, including what topics may be included and how an agreement once made may be later amended or revoked.
